Employer Sponsored

So you got the dream job (or you are still looking but need to know what comes next) and now you need a work visa....

Australia has extremely strict laws about the employment of foreign workers.

Generally speaking, only highly skilled and experienced workers can obtain visas to work in Australia.

If you work in an occupation on one of the occupation lists you can be sponsored by an employer to work in Australia on a short, medium or long term basis, or even be sponsored for permanent residency.

Whilst short and medium term visas have no age limit, permanent residency is generally for people under 50 under less they meet certain waiver criteria.

If you are under 31 years of age, have no children and hold an eligible passport, you may consider either a 'Working Holiday'or 'Work and Holiday' visa.  This doesnt require employer sponsorship but lets you travel to Australia and work for a specified period of time.  People often call it the 'backpacker' visa, and many people holding these visas go on to be sponsored by their employers for other visas.

Employer sponsored visa to work in Australia include:

  • 400 - Temporary Work (Short Stay Speicalist) visa
  • 408 - Temporary Activity visa
  • 457 - Temporary Work (Skilled) visa
  • 186 - Employer Sponsored permanent residency visas
  • 187 - Regional Sponsored permanent residency visas

If you are a Sportsperson or Religious worker or on a formal professional exchange then there is also the 401 Temporary Work (Long Stay Activity) visa, or if you are in the Entertainment industry, then the 420 Temporary Work (Entertainment) visa is probably for you!

Whatever the industry, talk to us.

We will assess both you and the sponsoring empoyer and the role they propose you to fill.  We have free assessments and this includes speaking with your future employer, discussing options with their HR and management, and helping them to confidently make the best decision for their business and your migration aims.

Dear Bonnie

I want to thank you personally for your service regarding our employee... The service we received was erudite, professional and prompt.  I understand the intricacies that can be involved in any visa process, however using your services erased any difficulties we would have faced.  From a business point of view I would highly recommend your services to any other companies who are seeking to sponsor an employee.
