Skilled Visas

Are you aged under 45 years of aged, have good skills and experience in an occupation on an approved list, and a good command of the English language?  Perhaps you are an accomplished and experienced entrepreneur or investor and looking to Australia as a new market for developing expanding your business or investments... If so, then the Skilled program of visas could be for you.

The Australian skilled migration program is the largest immigration program in Australia, and quite complex - comprising of several temporary and permanent visas.  The criteria for these visas changes frequently as the Government changes regularly the structure and target migrants for the program, based on Australia's changing requirements and skills shortages.

Whilst the 'Skill Select' also encompasses employer sponsored visas, we cover those under our other page, 'Employer Sponsored' visas.

The current structure is based around an 'Expression of Interest' (EOI) in the Government's 'Skill Select' online system and then invitations to apply for an actual visa are issued by one of the State or the Federal Government to persons who meet the profile of potential migrants the Government is targeting.  If you misunderstand the requirements and the order in which you complete the steps, or claim to have met a criteria which you haven't, not only do you risk having your visa application refused and losing the money you spent on the Government fees, you are also at risk of being found to have submitted a fraudulent claim and get an 'exclusion period' from Australia.

All the visas have minimum requirements for English language, Skills, Qualifications and Experience (with the exception of the Significant Investor 188 visa stream). The visas points tested (with the exception of the Temporary Graduate 485 visa), and require appropriate steps to have been undertaken prior to lodging an EOI.  There are certain restrictions around how you are able to claim points, and some Skill Assessing bodies do not accept on-the-job training and require formal qualifications in order to approve an applicant as positively assessed.  If you want to increase your chances of receiving a nomination, then you need to know the criteria of the various State and Regional areas, and how to submit applications for sponsorship to them.

The following visas are currently offered by the Government for skilled migrants to Australia:

Temporary Visas

- 489 Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa

- 485 Temporary Graduate visa

- 188 Business Innovation & Investment (Provisional) visa

Permanent Visas

- 189 Skilled Independent visa

- 190 Skilled Nominated visa

- 887 Skilled Regional (Permanent) visa

- 132 Business Talent (Permanent) visa

- 888 Business Innovation & Investment (Permanent) visa

Dear Bonnie

I want to thank you personally for your service regarding our employee... The service we received was erudite, professional and prompt.  I understand the intricacies that can be involved in any visa process, however using your services erased any difficulties we would have faced.  From a business point of view I would highly recommend your services to any other companies who are seeking to sponsor an employee.
